We would like to express our appreciation to all the parents, carers, and friends who joined us for our recent whole school assembly. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Student Leaders for 2023/2024. We are excited to see what the group will achieve in the coming months.
Congratulations to all our Cross Country participants! It is always inspiring to see our students challenge themselves and motivate others. We extend our appreciation to everyone who came out to support our students during the event. We would also like to recognise Mrs. Jac Parker and our House Leaders for their exceptional efforts in ensuring that the day was a success.
Last week, we held our Grade 10-12 Careers Camp. We are immensely proud of our students who stepped out of their comfort zones to explore the numerous options available after Grade 10. It is important to note that students are required to remain in education or training until they either complete Grade 12, achieve a Cert III qualification, or reach the age of 18. There are various pathways to choose from, including continuing Year 11/12 here at Campania, enrolling in another school such as Rosny or Claremont College, or pursuing an apprenticeship. If you are curious to learn more about these options, we encourage you to attend our Secondary Information Evening on Thursday, June 1st, from 6pm to 7pm. This event will provide valuable information about Campania's 7-12 programs and the diverse education opportunities available after Grade 10.
A friendly reminder to our bus students: please remember to adhere to the bus company's Code of Conduct. The codes were distributed to families last week. If you have any questions regarding the Code of Conduct, please contact the bus company directly or reach out to the Department of State Growth.
As always, our school welcomes open communication to discuss your child's progress and well-being. Please feel free to contact the school if you have any matters you would like to discuss. Our friendly front office staff are here to assist you in directing your call or scheduling a meeting at your convenience.
As always, we appreciate your ongoing support and commitment to our school community.
Kind regards,
The Senior Staff Team

Our Maths focus this term continues to investigate the four operations and strategies to solve sums. We continue to practice place value and look forward to exploring all things measurement.
In Science, we are exploring materials and their properties. We will be completing an egg drop challenge for students to demonstrate how material properties influence their use. Hopefully, we don't end up with too many cracked eggs.

Finally, in HASS we are learning all about Australia and its states, territories, national emblems and symbols.

On Friday 12th May, Ian from MAST came to our school to talk to the Grade 3-6 students about boat safety. This is an important part of the swimming and water safety program that the students participated in during Term 1. Ian showed students the safety equipment that must be carried in a boat, demonstrated the correct way to wear a lifejacket and how to tell if a lifejacket is safe to use. Mahalia was lucky enough to put a lifejacket on and have it inflated to demonstrate what happens when some life jackets touch the water.

The One/Two class recently went on an excursion to the Sorell Farm. It was a day filled with laughter, discovery, and many hands-on opportunities for our young learners.
The day started with a warm welcome from Lynn and three VET students, who introduced us to their diverse range of animals, both big and small. From cuddly rabbits and coloured chickens, to boisterous /smelly goats and hungry alpacas, our students were fascinated to learn, hold, and feed the animals.
Prep-Grade 2 students have been learning about different ways to represent data. Students have sorted their shoes into different colour groups and graphed the results.

Our Secondary Science classes have been looking at the reaction of sodium in water. The Gr9s watched Ms Pearson demonstrate this reaction. Some of our Gr8 students have been learning about the periodic table of elements including burning magnesium.

A very big thank you to all the parents and guardians that celebrated last Wednesday in our Mother's Day Morning Tea. Thank you to our Lift Coordinator Mrs Glover for organising this fantastic Morning.

Wednesday opening hrs are: Midday-4pm and Thursday 8:30am-4pm
Vaping and young people
The rising number of children and young people vaping is a growing issue of concern in our community.
Electronic cigarettes (vapes) can be appealing to young people due to bright colours and flavours. But no vapes are safe as they are often full of harmful chemicals and nicotine. For this reason, vapes can be addictive and harmful for lungs, brain development and general health.
It is important to talk to your children about vaping. Try to be understanding, compassionate and non-judgemental as you support them to learn more about the dangers of vaping or in seeking support to quit.
Information on what vaping is, the impacts and how to support your child is available on the new Department for Education, Children and Young People webpage on vaping, which can be accessed here:
