Campania District School News – Written by student leader Tyeshia and Miss Smith
There have been a lot of things happening since the last newsletter.
Kinder to Grade 6 participated in the Growing Up Program which was presented by Holly from Family Planning Tasmania. All students were fantastic participants and Holly made lots of comments about their positive behaviour.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge starts this week for students from Kinder to Grade 10. Students will bring home a recording booklet this week. This year each student can give themselves a reading challenge to achieve rather than previous years where the aim was to read 10 books in 10 weeks. The challenge also runs for longer this year finishing on September 1st. All students who participate will receive a certificate and sticker at the end of the challenge.
Our whole school rewards day will be held on the last Friday of term. All students will be participating in their chosen activity. Mrs Collins will be organising a celebration for Kinder students on one of the Kinder days. We would like to thank the staff for organising many exciting activities.
Grade 7-10 students participated in their second Reclink Footy game on Tuesday 27th June against Triabunna. All students participated well and were fantastic representatives of our school.
The Grade 7-8 Project Based Learning class held a bake sale recently. It was a hit with students and all food sold out fast.
Over the past few weeks some of our Grade 10 students have attended the Rosny College Taster Day and the Claremont College Taster Day. Our students demonstrated our values of respect, resilience and learning and we are really proud of them for attending. It is compulsory for students to stay in education/training until they turn 18, complete Year 12, or complete a Certificate III. Our Grade 10s are working on their Transition Plans during Wellbeing lessons, to help them plan their courses for 2024. Students will enrol for Rosny College and Claremont College early next term when College staff visit Campania for meetings with interested students. If parents/carers have questions about post-Grade 10 options or are thinking of enrolling students at Campania for Year 11/12, please contact the school or email kym.johnson@decyp.tas.gov.au
A reminder to families that mid-year reports will be distributed on Friday, June 30.
The report will show your child’s learning achievement on a 9-point visual scale for students in Years 1 to 10 (and for Prep students at the end of the year).
The 9-point scale shows where your child’s learning achievement is against the expected standard for their year level.
There will be no teacher comments in the report. This term parent/teacher conferences will be offered in Week 11. These are a great opportunity to discuss how your child is progressing with their learning. https://campaniads.schoolzineplus.com/view-session/7

If any community members are interested in volunteering to help our students with literacy and/or numeracy learning in class, you are welcome to contact us via Facebook Messenger or email kym.johnson@decyp.tas.gov.au. Please include your WWVP number, what grades you would like to work with, what days/times you may be available and the best contact number. We are aiming to create a list for our teachers, so they can contact volunteers if needed.
