In LOTE, the students looked at a Japanese festival called Tanabata, also known as the Star festival. On Tanabata, people make wishes on brightly coloured strips of paper called ‘tanzaku’ and hang them from bamboo branches, hoping to have their wishes granted.
To celebrate Tanabata, the Prep to Grade 4 students wrote their wishes on their own tanzaku, and learned of the story behind the festival.
