Principals Report
This is the time of year where we are speaking with families about enrolments for Year 7 and Kinder for 2022 (and in some instances enrolments in other year levels). As Principal of Campania District School, I take great pride in our school, students, staff, community and environment and thoroughly enjoy the opportunity I have to share this with our prospective enrolments.
Campania is a school of choice for so many families who are wanting a place where their child can flourish, as both a learner and a person, where they are not lost in the crowd but nurtured to grow. It is so pleasing that so many in our school community are sharing with others the great work we are doing here.
As I have met with families, I also acknowledge the challenges that we face as a small District School. Where there is conflict between students, we cannot simply move them to another class in that year level, as we only have one class at Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. Campania, like every other school has issues that need to be addressed, including conflict between students, differences of opinion and bullying. These are complex issues, and with all complex issues there are no simple solutions. Time, effort and perseverance is required to build and establish good working relationships. We look to understand and address issues and where possible use restorative approaches to conflict resolution. At other times this may not be appropriate in the first instance and other consequences need to be put in place. The pathway through this can be winding with repeated efforts required to navigate a way through. Our commitment to this work is real and unwavering and is one of our strengths as a school.
